Hello everyone...and happy 2019! I had a wonderful, long break, but I'm excited to be back to blogging. I've got lots of new ideas swirling in my head. Let's see if any of them make it to the page...fingers crossed.
There are some big changes coming to The Blended Blog, so stay tuned for those. Today we're back with TBB Asks, and in honor of the Golden Globes (which I quit watching after the red carpet since I only care about the gowns), let's talk about all things entertainment!
1/ I had to give this one a lot of thought. Reading has always been one of my favorites, but once I'm done, I'm done. Which is strange, because I also keep every book that I enjoy. Now I'm wondering, why? I'd like to read the Harry Potter series again, but my stack of new books is so high, I don't know when that will happen.
2/ Elizabeth George is my favorite author. I love, love, love her and wait impatiently for each new book in her Lynley series to be released. She also lives near me, and I'm hoping I run into her someday. I was reading one of her books in a waiting room recently, and a woman told me that she had eaten next to her at a local restaurant the week before. Lucky!
3/ Netflix has made it so easy to binge watch. A recent favorite was The Haunting of Hill House (soooooo scary but amazing) and we love Ozark (because hello Jason Bateman...at least for me).
4/ Not brand new, new, but The Goldberg's is such a great show. Consistently funny, great acting, and it totally reminds me of my 80's childhood.
5/ It's a tie between The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins. Clearly Julie Andrews is my idol. I'm afraid to go see the new Mary Poppins movie, but everyone has been raving about it, so we'll see.
6/ There are so many great movies coming out in 2019. I'm looking forward to Shazam (Zachary Levi is adorable), Rocketman (Elton John biopic), and Toy Story 4 (Conner loved Toy Story as a little guy).
7/ I think it was "America" when I was 9 or 10. My grandma lived near an amphitheater and took us to concerts all the time. It also might have been Barry Manilow, in the same place. Side note: after the Barry Manilow concert, we waited in the car and followed his limousine to a hotel. Except it wasn't actually him inside. My grandma was so much fun and I miss her everyday.
8/ Michael Jackson. Not seeing him in concert is a big regret for me.
9/ I love music, and I love going to concerts. Pink is one of my favorites, along with the Foo Fighters, Fleetwood Mac, Queen and Stevie Wonder.
10/ I should be streaming more. My younger son is a huge music fan and has almost 10,000 songs on his Spotify playlist, so I need to steal from him. Most of my music listening comes in the car.
Be sure to hop over to The Blended Blog to link up your posts. Come back on Wednesday for Winter Outerwear, and all month long for our Monday prompts.
Have a great week!
I haven't read anything by Elizabeth George. I guess that should change in 2019. I need to start streaming too!
ReplyDeleteI need to download some music to my phone and use my new headphones!
DeleteI would totally go see Mary Poppins with you- it's not as good as the original but does a damn fine job of holding it's ground!
ReplyDeleteIt's a date!
DeleteThe Sound of music is one of my faves!! Definitely!! But you also need to see the new Mary Poppins now...I think they did a fabulous job of updating it and making it different yet the same!!
ReplyDeleteAs for books, I'm the same. The only time I reread a book is accidentally...LOL!! I've learned to start reading the first couple of pages instead of the back cover to know if I've read it before...
XOXO

Ha - you made me laugh! And reminded me that my Grandpa Ed (who just turned 100) always writes his name (very small) on the back cover of his library books - so he can remember that he's read them and not check the same ones out again!
DeleteI just love The Sound of Music, too. I really want to see the new Mary Poppins movie. I think Michael Jackson would have been really neat to see in concert!

Let me know how if you see the new Mary Poppins, and if you like it. I'm so on the fence!
DeleteYour grandma sounds like she was super cool! I am bummed I never was able to see MJ too ☹️
ReplyDeleteShe was so much fun - I learned to disco dance from her after she took lessons! One of my biggest regrets is that I didn't see Michael before he died - also Queen would have been amazing.
DeleteMichael Jackson is someone I wish I had seen in concert too. I love Jason Bateman and just finished season 2 of Ozark. I need to check out Elizabeth George books!

My boys totally don't understand why I like Jason Bateman so much!
DeleteI feel the same way about the new Mary Poppins; I just love Julie Andrews so much and can not imagine anyone doing that roll justice. Sound of Music is a huge favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I feel. Although I read that Julie Andrews gave it her seal of approval, so that's probably a good sign!
DeleteOh yes, Ozark and Haunting of Hill House! Loved both! There are just too many good books out there to re-read one!

I agree! So many great books!
DeleteI'm really excited about Shazam and Rocketman too. They look fantastic!

Can't wait!
DeleteI recommend re-reading Harry Potter because when you know what's going to happen, so many little things in the earlier books make more sense! I am looking forward to seeing Toy Story 4 too!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great point!
DeleteI haven't watched award shows in a few years, either, but I do like seeing all the dresses in the media the next day.
ReplyDeleteIt's the best part!
DeleteSo happy I got to make it back to your space on the internet :) I missed “My New Happy” & Happy 2019! I took a loooong break like a 6 month long break from blogging, but truth be told I really missed it and I just couldn’t stay away. I watch a little of the Golden Globes, for some reason award shows never do it for me. I’m a huge Jason Bateman fan as well, she’s still boyishly handsome. I love the Goldbergs too, it’s hilarious and I love that they show a home movie at the end, it really takes me back haha
ReplyDeleteHiiiii!!! I was thinking about you the other day. So glad to see you back!
