Read, Watch, Listen, Follow

Today I'm linking up with my friend Sheila at Making The Most of Every Day for this fun series.  I'm currently on the road with my husband, heading to visit our son at college. Which means I'm probably stuck listening to hunting podcasts.  Luckily, the rest of the month was kinder to my ears!

I just read A Paris Apartment by Michelle Gable, and it was SO good.  I picked it up after returning from Paris, and finished it in two days while I was sick.  The story alternates between present day, where a Sotheby's furniture specialist is "pricing" an apartment for auction, and the late 1800's as we meet the flamboyant, original owner of the apartment.  Gable intertwines the two stories in a unique way, and adds a bit of mystery to the story.  Highly recommend!

The new fall TV season is upon us, but I honestly haven't had time to check out many shows.  I did watch the first episode of  American Housewife (love), and Project Runway is killing it this season.  Every one of the designers is so talented, and I can never get enough Tim Gunn.  There's also The Goldbergs, which is my very favorite show.  It brings back so many memories of the 80's, and Wendi McLendon-Covey is hysterical as Beverly Goldberg.

When I'm not listening to hunting podcasts about how to flush birds, there's been lots of music on my radio. Adele, Fitz & The Tantrums, The Foo Fighters, and every Pink song ever written.  Pink just announced a 2017 tour, and if she comes to Seattle, my friend Elizabeth and I will be there.  Her 2013 concert was the best I've ever seen.  Or heard.

I'm still trying to catch up on blog reading and following, but one of my favorites is The Sequinist. Lisa lives in London, travels extensively, and has the most beautiful sense of style.  Every post is like a lovely art piece. See?  You should definitely follow her.

I also joined a new group on Facebook called The Empty Nesters Community.  Lots of supportive stuff for us ladies dealing with growing up kiddos.  It's a closed group, but it's definitely worth joining if you're trying to figure out the next chapter.

Have a wonderful weekend.  There are a couple of BIG, possibly historic wind/rain storms heading our way, so hopefully we'll have power come Monday!

  4. There were certain elements I didn't care for in A Paris Apartment and I was tired of the word "provenance" but I like it enough to finish it. I am not familiar with The Goldburgs. 80's? I'll have to check it out! Thanks for linking up! Enjoy time with your college boy! I'm on a road trip taking my daughter for her first (unofficial) college visit.

  5. I read Paris Time Capsule which sounds remarkably like Paris Apartment! Interesting! The author of Paris Time Capsule also wrote The House by the Lake. You might enjoy it.
