Happy Friday, happy weekend, and welcome to my randomness!
--Fresh picked apples have arrived! They're one of my favorite things about fall. And apparently, an apple a day really does keep the doctor away, as long as you eat the peel. I wonder if this Apple Pie Bar would work just as well?

--On Wednesday I wrote about my shopping trip to Seattle where I inexplicably purchased nothing. Which reminded me of this jacket I saw in Whistler and also did not buy.
It had everything I could hope for in a coat - waterproof, fun colors, animal print, AND it was on sale. Why, oh why, didn't it come home with me? Obviously I wanted it, because I even took a picture. Sigh.

--It's Homecoming weekend for my younger son. I'm still wondering when this event took a turn and became so expensive. Not to mention the crazy "proposals" these boys have to come up with. I wrote about them last year, and not much has changed.

--Finally, be sure to hop over to The Blended Blog today, where we're continuing our interview series with Shaunacey. She's a very talented writer with a great voice, and two adorable kiddos.
Have a great weekend!
This was our first year experiencing homecoming and I was surprised on how elaborate the proposals were! Hope you son had a great time! That Mother Teresa quote is a good rule to live by!

Doused In Pink
Thanks Jill. They had a really good time.
DeleteI also wonder when asking a girl to a dance or homecoming became like a creative marriage proposal?! I see friends all over facebook with posters, flowers, candy, teddy bears, and creative puns and questions. It's all fun, but quite an effort! By the way, have you seen the homecoming mums we have in Texas? They have evolved from a real flower that we wore in the 80s to a giant artificial flower with ribbons, bells and trinkets. They have to wear them on a strap around their neck! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why everything has to keep getting bigger - that doesn't make it better, right :)!
DeleteWe had our sons homecoming a few weeks ago and it's nuts but so fun!! Yay for s crisp fresh picked Apple! I also wanted to tell you how I admired your mama and you from your post yesterday. Cancer sucks but we can win!!! Happy weekend gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrea. Hope your weekend was good too!
DeleteHappy Friday girlfriend!!
ReplyDeleteLana, I like that quote, too bad more people don't live by it... myself included... I work on it though xox
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely something to work toward, isn't it?
DeleteOh my. 1- I can't believe the proposals thing..What the heck are the expectations then for these poor guys when they actually want to propose to get married??? 2- I need to blow up that Mother Teresa quote and put it in my classroom. Sounds like a good weekend project to me. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to put it in my office too so I can see it everyday.
DeleteThe apples.. I think my doctor would approve of Apple Pie Bars!
ReplyDeleteAnd with the jacket, I often hold off on buying something and then I'll see if I can get it out of my head. 9 times out of ten, I CAN. Then there are those times I can't and I go back to buy it and I missed the boat! Wah!
I would totally go back and buy this jacket - if it wasn't three hours away :)!
DeleteI know exactly how that homecoming dance proposal happened! From the show Laguna Hills! Seriously I remember watching it back in the day and the guys would come up with these elaborate plans to ask the girls, and I thought that's super cool. I bet every girl watched that show, wanted her date to do the same. It might have a been a thing around random places, but I'm fairly certain that show is the one that popularized it! that being said super cute sign your son made ;)
ReplyDeleteDarn those Laguna Hills people :)! He got lots of help with the sign...
DeleteI hope T has fun this weekend. Cute photo! And this was a fun post. Happy weekend Lana!
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan. Hope your weekend was good too!
DeleteThe Home Coming Stuff is way way over the top is my opinion. We all have shopping regrets! She's not a Saint for Nothing!!
ReplyDeleteExactly, exactly and exactly!
Deleteokay, seriously, how sweet are you for sending people to my post?!
ReplyDeleteI've been a blogging/commenting FAIL lately but I can legitimately blame my children as well as being sick (right?!)
I LOVE apples, I paid $2 for one yesterday. Well, to be fair, it was from the cutest little boy scout so I couldn't say no :)
Also, my wedding proposal wasn't that intense lol
First of all, you are not a fail. You also have a newborn, which trumps everything else. Apples are my favorite.
DeleteI'm going to have to plan a post about fried apples! They are amazing! You just peel them put them in a skillet with butter and some sugar and fry them. They are perfect for breakfast on those cold mornings! I will be heading out of town on Wednesday for the rest of the week, but I will be sending out the book right before I leave! I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to finish the rest of the book! And fried apples sound yummy. Hope you're having fun!
