Most of the time I love living in Seattle. Spring, however, can be a bit of a weather battle. Over the last week we've had sunshine and warm temps, two inches of hail, wind, drenching rain, and sunshine and cold temps.
Battle I. Last Thursday was a beautiful spring day. My tulips opened up and enjoyed the warm sunshine.
Battle II. On Saturday a cold front came through bringing a hail storm to the lowlands. Our mountains got over two feet of snow, something that hadn't happened all winter long.
Battle III. This was followed by wind and drenching rains on Monday. I'm pretty sure my daffodils drowned.
Battle IV. On Wednesday the sun tried to gain the upper hand again. Even though it looked lovely, the temperatures were still chilly.
Eventually sunshine and warmth will win the war. I just wish it would happen sooner than later - there's yard work to be done and spring clothes to be worn.
What's spring like where you live?
We are having similar variables here, also. Our spring weather is always full of extremes - but what a strange winter it has been!
ReplyDeleteI think your weather is even more extreme than ours. Can't believe you had snow on Easter!
DeleteI love the pictures! It has been raining here for the last 4 days and it's supposed to rain for the next 5! WE need an ark around here my back yard is a pond right now. It's pretty warm out though. I am so ready for some sunshine around here!
ReplyDeleteWe've finally had some sunshine but it's still chilly. I can't wait for some warmth!
DeleteWarm-ish and beautiful. The snow is all gone! Please don't send any here . . . :)
ReplyDeleteI will do my best...
DeleteThe weather is up and down here in Oklahoma. And we get a lot of rain too.
ReplyDeleteAnd tornadoes! Scary stuff...
DeleteAs they say: April weather, rain and sunshine both together:) But where the hell is the snow coming from? Beautiful mountains picture though:)
ReplyDeleteThe snow eluded our mountains all winter and then showed up now. Weird!
Deletegorgeous photos - I love looking at all the US ladies' backgrounds in their pics because they have such a wide range of weather extremes - Western Australia is much more moderate - I've never seen snow! Love the flowers & I'm sure you'll have more soon :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Leanne. You've never seen snow? Maybe a visit here is in order :)!
DeleteGreat pics and I'm hoping for warmer temps here in Toronto too! Enjoy your weekend:)

Thank you Marta!
DeleteLana... Spring is slowly coming around... I was out for a couple of walks that totaled 4+ miles and although I was pretty red and sweaty, I enjoyed it totally... I heard we are getting some snow on Saturday... if so, I might lose it... along with the rest of the people in the Maritimes... we are still getting rid of ice banks xox
ReplyDeleteI hope the snow stays away - I think you deserve some spring weather!
DeleteSnow in April---I can't even imagine! Well, I actually can't even imaging having two feet of snow anyway :) Your tulips are beautiful though!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny. Don't you have some that you brought back from Holland?
DeleteAll of pictures are so appealing, even though I'm done with winter.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteOurs is so weird that I'm often surprised when the plants still survive - or thrive! We had a very cold early spring and then last week was "above average" and now next week is expected to be seasonal. Seasonal means 50's or so. Our anniversary is in late April and I can remember many cool or cold ones!
ReplyDeleteMy daffodils started blooming in February and I figured they were done for. But they made it!
DeleteThere has been odd weather her as well. We've gotten softball sized hail earlier last week. It caused a ton of damage. It didn't start snowing here until the end of February. I'm stopping by from SITS to say hi.
ReplyDeleteLuckily our hail is never very big. I've heard of the huge hail that makes a mess of things! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteWe have had a very mild spring. Still enjoying cool nights and haven't had much of our dreaded March winds that blew through March, April and May last year. I haven't planted any flowers this year but hope to remedy that this weekend. Did your daffodils survive?
ReplyDeleteThey did! I have no idea how.
