My New Happy: Chucks and Pastels

Chucks and Pastels

I've decided that "pastels" are my favorite color.  All of them.  And even though it's not quite spring yet, I was inspired by my friend Carrie at A Lovely Little Wardrobe to pull out this mint and green plaid shirt today.

Luckily, pastels are on trend for Spring/Summer 2015.  Powder blues, pinks, yellows and greens make any outfit look feminine.  Even a button down shirt and jeans.

I also have a confession to make.  I finally broke my no shopping ban and purchased a pair of white Converse Chucks.  They've been on my wish list for awhile, and I had Nordstrom Notes to spend.  I decided on the Shoreline Sneaker - a slip on style with an elasticized heel.  They are a little more fitted and really comfortable, and I definitely recommend these over the regular Chucks.

White sneakers have always been a favorite of mine.  I loved getting a fresh pair of Keds when I was a teenager, and for weeks afterward I would carefully walk around, trying to keep them clean and scuff free.  But they eventually lost their "whiteness", and I lost interest in wearing them.   Today I came across a great article with tips to keep white Converse clean, including letting them air dry in the sun for maximum bleaching.  Yay!

What are you looking forward to wearing this spring?

  1. Your mint green plaid top is so cute! Thanks for sharing the tips on cleaning the chucks! Someone suggested before to put them through the dishwasher but it didn't really get them any cleaner than the washing machine. I'll have to try drying them in the sun.

    1. I've tried cleaning hats in the dishwasher before, but that didn't work either. I'm going to try the sun idea too.

  5. I'm a white shoe gal myself! I love the Converse I had a purple pair in school but I need to get me a new pair and those are awesome! I have a trick that will get the stains out of them from the mud and dirt. Scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaner! It works to get the stains out on shoes and car upholstery haha! That's my tip for the day!

  6. I attract dirt and mud just by thinking about them. So white isn't in the cards for me. However I love the look of your chucks and the concept of an elasticized heel is brilliant.

  7. OH I love your white chucks, I've been wanting a pair too...will keep in mind the elastic heel, that's pretty cool. And I wore Keds everyday throughout my middle school years, oh the fond memories. In elementary school I wore a pair of saddle shoes everyday, I loved those things!

  9. How I *wish* I could wear this type of shoe. They give me the worst blisters. I do think they are so cute and practical.

Seems like everyone I know is breaking down on their shopping bans lately.

  10. I Love chucks! So much! I actually look bad in earth tones and some pastels. It's because I'm a "winter" and I look good only in bright white and vivid colors. However, I love pastels so much.

  12. That top is so cute! And I adore the shoes!!

This spring I'm planning to incorporate more jewelry into my wardrobe, and maybe a few headbands, as well. I own a lot of jewelry, but I always forget to wear it!

    1. I'm the exact same way - I have lots of jewelry but it's stored in a drawer and I always think of it too late. I need to come up with a better way to display it.

  13. Have on my white imitation Chucks as I type and noticed that they are a bit dingy. Thank you for the link with tips on keeping/returning them to sparkling white. Your shirt is perfect for this in-between weather. Love the colors. I am gradually transitioning into spring but then we have a bad weather day and I go running for my faux-UGGs.
