My go to outfit this winter has been a pair of leggings or skinny jeans and a tunic sweater. Comfortable, warm and cute. Because I'm tall, I often have a hard time finding tunics that are long enough to cover all the important parts. A few weeks ago, Audrey at Audrey Salutes shared a great post on extending the length of sweaters by adding a tunic style tank top with lace detailing underneath. Genius! Even though I'm on a "clothing-spending freeze", I am on the lookout for just such a tank top. I figure an item of clothing that layers under something else doesn't count, right? If you have seen one somewhere, let me know!
Luckily, my tunic sweater came with the lace trim attached. It was a Christmas gift from my sister who purchased it at Loft, and I love it. I have scoured their website, and they don't seem to be carrying it anymore. They are, however, having a huge sale on many of their other sweaters, like this pretty gray turtleneck that is only $15.88.
Be sure to come back on Friday for the next Style Me Bloggers link up. We'll be sharing our 2015 Wishlist. This should be fun!

Lana.. the sweater looks great on you, the lace gives it a very feminine look... ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm on a spending freeze until my income tax comes in... I'm looking forward to shopping then :-) xox
I haven't decided when my spending freeze will be over. I really need to wear the things that are already in my closet!
DeleteYour sweater is so pretty! Love this cozy, layered look!

Thanks Jill!
DeleteI am short and still have trouble finding tunics long enough I feel comfortable in. Gina over at The Daily Express said she's discovered the Liz Lange maternity camisoles at Target are perfect for layering and covering the assets. I gotta check into that. This look is very pretty with the lace detail peeking out!
ReplyDeleteI have heard the same thing about the maternity camisoles. I will check them out!
DeleteWhat a cute look - and I love how the light laces balances the scarf! I have the opposite problem - clothing that should hit mid hip often falls near my knees! I would love to be tall, but as I tell my son and his friends - that is truly something about us we can't really change ...
ReplyDeleteI always wish I were shorter - haha! But you're right, nothing we can do about it!
DeleteYou are so rocking this pretty tunic - the lace detailing made it all cuter!!!
ReplyDeleteBest!

Thank you Rebecca!
DeleteI love the lace detail and the colour. I've started layering clothes as well. It's a nice way of reinventing some things in my closet and adding some length. Great look!
ReplyDeletePlus it's extra warm!
DeleteI am all about tunics and leggings this winter! I have found some great options at Nordstrom and several online boutiques, like Kiki La'Rue. I love the lace detail here!! Very pretty! Susan
ReplyDeleteI will have to check out Kiki La'Rue. Thanks for the suggestion!
DeleteI just love the lace detail on the bottom, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you Carrie!
DeleteVery cute look, love the layering! Leggings and sweaters are my staple in the winter too, you can't go wrong with comfy and warm.

DeleteI love the tunic sweater! This is my first winter wearing them. I get them on Jane.com. Lace trim is icing on the cake!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look at Jane.com because I can always use more tunics!
DeleteAdore that tunic sweater on you! The lace detail is perfect!!

Thank you so much!
DeleteYour tunic sweater is lovely and I love the peek of lace underneath. I want to join you for the February link-ups but you have to remind me of the themes a few days ahead hahaha.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Lana! <3 Ada.
I'll try to remember to remind you next time Ada! Thank you!
DeleteThe lace trimming just isolate this sweater from the ordinary.. love it!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of adding lace to the hem - it looks terrific! Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, xo.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting Patti!
DeleteI am tall too and wasn't liking sweaters hitting me at my widest pear shaped point, so I layered a thin knit summer elbow length t shirt tunic with a satin hi low hem under my sweaters which gave the added length and some extra zip to my outfit. I just bought two more of these type tunics from Macy's, Charter Club and Style & Co. on sale for about $9.00 each. They do have sleeves, but I need the extra warmth anyway. I think my inspiration came from the ever elegant & chic Tamera Beardsley.
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks so much for mentioning my post Lana:) I'm thrilled to have provided helpful style inspiration! Thank you so much, its an honor!
