Since then I've dabbled a bit, but I'm still having trouble with my eyes. I have naturally droopy eyelids that are getting worse with age, and most of the time I just look tired. My friend's daughter is a makeup artist at a local salon, so I agreed to let her experiment on me.
This is a recent picture of me with no make up on.
And here I am after Noelle worked on me.
I need some opinions from my friends in the blogosphere. I think she did a good job with evening out my skin tone, and I like the color she chose for my lip gloss. But I'm not sold on the eyes. I'm used to seeing myself without makeup, so everything looks "heavy" to me, and it's hard to be objective. There were a lot of steps, and I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference.
Thoughts? Be honest - I don't mind!
Just making conversation, I mentioned concerns about “droopy eyelids” to my eye doctor. His response: “In cases when it gets bad enough to affect vision, insurance will sometimes cover corrective surgery!” What?! Hopefully that's a long way off!
ReplyDeleteI like the photo of you without makeup just as well. When I use eyeliner (rarely - my makeup routine is similar to yours!), I also feel like I look too “made-up” I don't see that in your photo though. My opinion: A nice look for dressing up, but I don't think you need to attempt it every day. :)
That's what I'm thinking too - I will probably only attempt this for a night out! My mother had the surgery last year because she had no peripheral vision going up, and her insurance paid for it. I'm sure I will eventually need it too.
DeleteI think you look beautiful with the makeover! I think you should embrace your eyelids and find eyeshadow application tips for your eye shape, after all many people are born with that shape. Maybe dramatic eyelashes could be your new focus. Or if it really bothers you have surgery, my mom did, they just cut some skin out so you'll have a scar in the crease.
ReplyDeleteMy mom had the surgery too, and it helped a lot, so I'm sure it's in my future. I have experimented with Younique lashes too and I really like them.
DeleteI think you made up eyes (whole look actually) look lovely! If doing full eye make up every day is too much, I would definitely concentrate on mascara for everyday. That and maybe a soft neutral shadow.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Karen. That's what I'm thinking too!
DeleteI don't know. I like both photos! I guess I like that without makeup photo, because you look much younger than 47 and you look natural and healthy. For a night out, though, I love to do my eyes and lips.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tamara. So far I'm actually liking the lip gloss best of all.
DeleteI like both... although I don't wear a lot of make up, I totally look better with it. I just don't have the time and I walk a great deal at a high speed which means I sweat and make up would just melt off my face. I do like how foundations really even the skin out. You really do look much younger than your age of 47 in both of these pictures.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the nice compliment. I agree, putting on makeup takes so much time!
DeleteI do like both photos but agree about the second looking a bit heavy on the eyes. I think a good mascara might be all you'd need for the eyes.

I think you're right Suzanne.
DeleteYou look so great and would never guess your age! I think the makeover look is fantastic. Love the gloss
ReplyDeleteAnd you are very sweet! I'm really liking the gloss too.
DeleteYou are beautiful so it is tough. I like the darker eyebrows that seem to make your eyes pop more!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the nice compliment! She did darken up my eyebrows, and I agree it works.
DeleteYou look great without and even prettier with makeup on! To get used to it, just wear mascara and a neutral eyeshadow for everyday and the rest when you are going out. Everytime, I darken my eyebrows, it feels strange. But it does make your eyes pop!

Doused In Pink
Thanks Jill, you're so sweet. I think you're right, and I'll probably stick to a simpler eye routine for everyday.
DeleteI like both actually. But the second picture whatever color she used really brings out the blue in your eye
ReplyDeleteI like the made up look for going someplace special, but you definitely don't look like you need make up everyday! I went for a makeover last fall and I'm with you. There are a lot of steps for eye make up and I can't be bothered with it everyday :)
ReplyDeleteIt just takes too long, I agree! I'll probably save this look for special occasions!
DeleteI read this the other morning and didn't have time to comment, so I am back today to let you know my opinion. I am with you about the eye makeup being a little heavy. However, I tend to keep my eyes very neutral and minimal because I don't feel like I look right with a ton of makeup. Which is probably why I usually do a strong lip instead. The rest of the look she gave you looks really pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I agree with you, and I have been doing a lighter eye which I'm pretty happy with.
