I have temporarily lost my fashion photographer, who has gone back to school and left me to take pictures with my phone. My husband gave me a remote timer for my camera for Christmas, but I haven't had a chance to figure it out yet. Better get on that!
Thanks to blogging and Alison's Style Me Challenges, I've been inspired to quit wearing my yoga pants every day and start wearing what's in my closet. There are a LOT of clothes in there. I think I could probably go at least a year and not buy another thing.
Some of the lovely ladies from the Winter/Holiday Style Me Challenge came up with a great idea - to shop your closet. Since one of my goals this year is to buy less and use what I have, this is perfect for me. My plan is to spend only $50 a month on clothing. We'll see how long I can last.
I've had this Old Navy plaid shirt and Kut From The Kloth jeans for awhile. Which leads me to another subject: boot cut jeans.
Hallelujah, a modified version of the boot cut jean is back in style, which is great news because they are flattering for all body types. The modern difference is in the cut - a bit of a higher rise, with a skinnier leg on the bottom. Both Hudson and Paige denim feature skinny boot cut jeans in their new collections, and Old Navy has a great selection for those of us on, ahem, a clothing budget. Wear them with an oxford shirt, a sweater, and short boots.
Speaking of good news, the Style Me Bloggers will be back this Friday with our first link up of 2015. The subject is "From my closet: something old, something new, something borrowed and something in a shade of blue". Hope you'll join us!
Lana... I like boot cut too, it's very flattering♡
ReplyDeleteI like this idea, my youngest should do this... she's only 11 and she has at least 3 times the clothes I have ;-)
I think my 17 year old son has more clothes than I do too!
DeleteI'm glad bootcut is coming back too! It's nice to have another option! I love this look! You look adorable!

Thanks Jill. I'm glad too - sometimes I just don't want to wear skinny jeans!
DeleteHappy to hear boot cut jeans are coming back! Going to have to get over to Old Navy! :)
ReplyDeleteLots of cute stuff there. Shop for me!
DeleteI decided last year to shop my closet and found things I had never worn - amazing. I don't like the way boot-cut jeans look on me so steer away from them -- I prefer skinny leg with boots over top. But you look fabulous -- the joys of being young like you!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carol! I know there are some things in my closet with the tags still on them.
DeleteA remote for your camera sounds really useful! I'm learning a lot from your fashion posts - I never even realized boot-cut jeans went out of style!
ReplyDeleteNow I just have to figure out how to use it!
DeleteI love boot cut and am quite over skinny jeans.
ReplyDeleteYes, there are days...
Deleteoh it's so easy to use the remote. At least the two that I have, you set your camera to the timer and then it just knows that you have a remote, click remote, good to go :) Although my point and shoot I can't use the clicker...so that's annoying, but whatever! :) I shopped my closet for the winter challenge and it felt good! Going to see how long I can last not buying clothes...spent WAY too much last year with all the fun challenges :) Can't wait to see what everyone does on Friday for the link up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice on the remote. Need to get it out this weekend! Looking forward to Friday too!
DeleteI love boot cut!!!
ReplyDeleteI love boot cut jeans and am so glad I saved a few pairs. Yours look amazing on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura. I saved quite a few too, but some are probably a little too flared for the modern look.
DeleteI love bootcut! For some reason, I really only have skinny jeans, which is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteGet yourself some boot cut jeans! They would look great on you, I'm sure!
DeleteLove a bootcut. So glad they're coming back around. Thanks for sharing on #FashionFriday!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting!
DeleteGreat look! Love the shirt!!

DeleteI love bootcut jeans and your plaid shirt is nice. I am wearing a similar outfit today. Vests with sweaters. button-downs and jeans are common for me. =)
ReplyDeleteLove the plaid! The boot cut is actually the most flattering cut of jeans.. kudos!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with Visible Monday!
ReplyDeleteCute, casual, cozy ... comfy, too, I'm sure. Pretty you ... your femininity just shines in menswear!
