Favorite Holiday Meal

It's time for another link up with the Style Me Bloggers, and today we're sharing our favorite holiday meal.  I laughed when I saw this topic, because at my house, we've been eating the same thing on Christmas day for at least the last eighteen years.  So apparently it's our favorite!

When G and I first got married, we always went to my mom and dad's house for Christmas breakfast and present opening, usually in our pj's.  Then we'd go home to shower and get dressed, and come back for Christmas dinner.

Once we had the boys, we decided we didn't want to haul them back and forth on Christmas day, so the festivities switched to our house.  Now, everyone gathers here for brunch and presents, and those who can stay the rest of the day and have dinner.

Same table, same food - musical chairs!

We ALWAYS have Christmas brunch, because my sister and her family cannot get here on time are not early risers (hee hee - I'm going to be in trouble for that one) - so breakfast is out of the question.  And the following items are ALWAYS served:  mexican egg casserole, potato casserole, fresh fruit, bacon/sausage and pastries.

For Christmas dinner, it's ALWAYS prime rib, twice baked potatoes, and cranberry romaine salad.  My hubby is head chef for all these meals, and I help with setting the table and clean up.

Looking through pictures, I realized that my family is very set in their ways.  It would be kind of fun to plan a different menu and see what a fit everyone would have when they showed up for their mexican egg casserole and got omelets instead!

Stop by today and visit the other Style Me Bloggers to find out about their favorite holiday meal.  I hope you'll link up with us, or come back in two weeks for our Christmas home tour. I can't wait for that one since I'm nosy and love to see everyone else's homes!

  1. So fun to look at your photos! Prime Rib for Christmas sounds wonderful! We do Christmas Eve here and then Christmas Day at my sister's. One year we showed up in our pj's and she was not happy!

  2. My family is also set in it's way. For me, holidays are about traditions though so I enjoy it. Probably why I look forward to them so much, because I know exactly what we will do and eat. haha.

  4. What fun traditions! We do a brunch as well ... and it always includes grapefruit halves sprinkled with brown sugar and a maraschino cherry placed in the center. (This is a carry-over from my childhood.) And every year since my kids were tiny, I have made a batch of cinnamon rolls.
Unfortunately, I don't have a post prepared for this linkup - but I will look forward to reading everyone else!
